Discovering the nightlife underwater – my experience night diving at Goat Island
I had always been fascinated by the idea of night diving – exploring the underwater world after the sun had gone down. So when I had the opportunity to go night diving at Goat Island, I jumped at the chance.
As the sun began to set, we geared up and entered the water. Immediately, the world around us took on a different feel. The colours were more muted and the water seemed somehow darker. We turned on our torches and began to explore.
The first thing that struck me was the silence. During the day, the underwater world is full of the sounds of fish swimming and the occasional passing boat. But at night, there was a strange stillness. It was almost as if the world was holding its breath.
As our eyes adjusted to the darkness, we started to see creatures that we had never seen before. Small crabs scuttled in and out of the coral, and strange fish darted through the water. It was like being in a whole new world.
We spent the next few hours diving, and I was amazed at how different the underwater world looked at night. It was a truly magical experience, and one that I will never forget.
